This boy is as good at taking care of kittens as any mom I have. He is now in a pet home and still very happy but I truly miss him! If you look at his tail, you will notice the “barring” that I was talking about in relation to Jewel.

The boys!

Here is Sapphire and her sweet sweet babies. All four are in there with her, I LOVE kitty pile-ups! Siamese and colorpoints love and crave the affection of other cats and show great affection towards one another, not just mother to kitten.

Papyrus was always into the babies things as we got them together before she was born, we even tried everything out on her! This is Jewel’s grandma. She is a tolerant cat!

This is my Howard man! What a wonderful boy he is. He has opened up a whole new love for me-chocolates! I have had a wonderful time showing Howard-if you visit my website you can see him on the “in the showhall” page actually in the showhall! He is a grand champion and should be a regional kitten winner. He sure deserves it, he is a credit to his breeder Ruth Taylor! He is also my pillow buddy, Howard sleeps with me usually tucked up into my left arm all night purring.

This is Jewel, she has become my appendage lately! Jewel is very special, she is the first red girl born at PharoahsGems! Red girls are like little piles of gold because they are hard to get unless you have red/cream to red/cream breedings but even then you can get all boys! Red is sex-linked and if you want to know more about that please visit my website and email me-I will be glad to enlighten you! Her mom is a blue cream (tortie) point and dad is red. Jewel’s birth is extremely important to me since she will be an asset to my colorpoint program and crucial to having more red babies! Her full name is Pharoahsgems Jewel of the Nile. Welcome Jewel! Her lack of barring is not only a pleasant and welcome surprise but a step towards understanding how to create barrlessness in all my reds.

Please visit my website and see some more of my lovely cats! www.pharoahsgems.com

Hope you enjoy your visit!

This is my first post, although I created the site a while ago. This site is dedicated to  wonderful, beautiful, highly intelligent and very affectionate siamese and slinkies (colorpoints, orientals, javanese and balinese). I call  my siamese and colorpoints brats but they are like children to me.

We live in 2007, life is hard, stressful and downright frustrating at times. It during those times that you can close your eyes and think back to the things that truly made you happy during your lifetime.  For me, the most memorable thing that I loved was to go to CFA cat shows as a teenager near our home and DROOLING  over the gorgeous siamese I saw there. At that point in my life  it was the seal point. I remember hardly being able to control my excitement while I waited to get in the door of the showhall.  What a busy place it was. I would anxiously look wide eyed up and down the isles until I saw one! The gorgeous almost black mask that beheld blue eyes that looked like precious jewels. The long slinky bodies that conveyed grace and elegance like I have never known.  I remember walking up to the area where they were benched and begging to touch. Sometimes it was yes and sometimes it was I’m sorry no. But just to look into the eyes of those gorgeous creatures! They seemed so wise and knowing, like old souls. I kindly thanked the owners for even a glimpse of their gorgeous cats! Then I would wander the isles and buy our “regular old housecats” some toys but my mind raced at the thought of living with one of these gorgeous creatures. Look into the eyes of my Princess Margaret and see if you can feel just a little of what I felt. This is why her eyes are my banner.

Well, soon the fantasy ended and I was off for home. How could I get my mom to agree to let me have one of these babies? I had a hundred idea, but in the end none worked on her. She just said ,”They are mean, there is no way!” I was CRUSHED. For then, all I could do was drool over them when the cat show was in town, and it never came soon enough for that wide eyed teenager.

That led me to a place where I decided I wanted to have one, maybe two. I though that in the stress of motherhood, being a wife and then divorced, working and the daily drudgery of being an adult that one of those blue jewel eyed angels might bring me a few more smiles. I found a breeder who would sell me one and when she called, I rushed to her house and there sat a little seal point girl who’s jeweled blue eyes told me she was for me! As I sat in the floor with her and held her close and noticed out of the corner of my eye this other tiny creature in the cat tree was the second most stunning creature I had ever seen! It was a red point and I was speechless! Once I gathered my racing thoughts, I asked the breeder about this little guy and she told me about reds and how they are colorpoints and I knew I HAD to have him too, but my husband only agreed to the seal, what would I do? Well, I took my little seal girl home and told him about the red boy and basically carried on until he relented to me having him and guess where I was the next day? Picking up my red baby.

These two, Isis and Osiris, were merely pets but soon I began thinking about the showhalls and thought these were such gorgeous babies, why not ask the breeder if I could show them? She came by, we talked, soon she agreed to allow me to show and have breeding rights! She and her grandma are just dolls, but once in the cat fancy I learned that my pets were just pets and they were spayed and neutered but cherished babies in our home. Isis also did not have “show” temperment. She is a WILD child with an attitude to match!

Anyhow, I began trying to get my first breeding cats  and got taken pretty badly by a breeder in Virginia who sold me a very sick red point and equally as sick seal point that had to be petted out after they were restored to health.  I was devastated and hurt at her lack of care for my financial loss (I really sacrificed to pay for these babies and the trip to pick them up) and for these poor cats. She was completely unwilling to refund my money or do anything to make it right.  My heart was broken. Then I met Bernie Hartman at a show in Michigan and he was showing the most beautiful tortie point I’d ever seen (don’t worry, the site will be full of photos soon so you can see what each looks like) and he recommended that I talk to his partner Bob Molino who is a CFA judge. I did and then, we got Papyrus, a cream point girl that I ADORED. We showed her to a grand and then I was able to meet Ruth Taylor of Gimsin Siamese and now I have to say, I have the most beautiful siamese thanks to her. Her cats are healthy, exceptionally gorgeous and have the best temperments! I am thrilled to have four!

All this said, I have found my happy place. Its in the showhall, in the home where my beautiful babies live, and in the nursery where I get to watch babies be born, grow and eventually give a new pet owner the joy they have given me!
